Finishes

WooooHoooo! I got some stuff done!
Firstly... that fabric that I showed you... I cut and sewed and lo and behold I got the quilt top done by Thursday night!!! Whatever has gotten into me??? lol  granted it's a very simple pattern, but still! :)
Then... I had my eggs almost done.  I promised the gals at the store that I would finish them up and have them done so that people could see what we were making for the class... and lo and behold I got them done and the finished this morning... heavens... 2 finishes???

But wait!!! I pulled out a quick little stitch that I finished (the stitching) like last year... or the year before... I don't know but he's been floating around for some time... and look!!! I made him into a little wall hanging! Isn't he too cute???
So... there you have it! 3 finishes in like... 4 days??? How productive! How amazing! How satisfying! Now, I have to clean my kitchen... :( not as exciting or amazing but probably productive...
until later... stay warm...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Good Morning to All!
Happy Valentine's Day!
1st We are having a vitual Valentine's Day Party over at Parsley's so check it out... we signed up to do a little swap, Parsley divied out the names, rules are easy, make something little handmade and buy "stuff" under $10 and send it off to your secret Valentine by the 7th, then post to Parsley's site today!  My Valentine received came from Amy in Texas... posted below.  My Valentine sent went to Mary in Colorado We had to fill out a little info about ourselves... Mary's favorite color is peach and her favorite candy is peanut clusters and she collects roosters (but not living! lol) so shopping was fun ~ I got her an Angel, and a rooster calendar and Yum a Mr. Goodbar, but mostly I had fun creating a little box for her.  Here are pictures from beginning to end!

And that is that! LOL! It turned out really cute,
I hope that Mary likes it.
2nd... today at the quilt store, I'm teaching a class on the
Bird Brain Designs Embroidered Heart Sachet... Yikes!  I'm a little nervous.  I like to embroider, but I haven't done that much of it... so to teach it seems funny (strange not HaHa!) to me... but I'll give it a try!   Have a wonderful Valentine's Day... Check in tomorrow for update on Quaker Christmas... it's moving along!
Until later, stay warm!

Old WIPs Revisited...

Well, you all know how it goes... I "built" this quilt oh,I don't know
how long ago... let's say 3 years. I truely love it... it started with
my Love Affair with WOOL... and a pattern in a BH&G Patchwork magazine... (I'll have to find it for the info) this gal designed it inspired by the Amish and their use of color. She did it with hand dyed cottons... I dreamed of a wool quilt and had gathered beautiful hand dyed wool fat 8ths... I purchased some black flannel wool on the internet and felted... it is soft and lovely... and so it began...
I put it all together (top) layered it with batting and backing The original quilt design did not have the flowers around the border... I added that later... I "designed" the flowers myself... and then I attempted to hand quilt it...
hmmm the story ends there for the last say 2 years 10 months
it has set in my closet... While emailing Imi (one of my new online
friends from Holland, ) and discussing wool I mentioned my
quilt... which prompted me to get it out of the closet on Saturday
and pull my stitches of hand quilting. I have detrimined
that if I wait for me... (as I have discovered that I am not a
hand quilter) my quilt will remain forever in the closet...
and it ohhhh so wants out!!! (lol)
I have a local gal here in town who will quilt it for me...
so today it will make the journey to
the quilt store to meet up with her...

A Finish! and something new...

Hey All!! I finished
LHN "Heart of America"
I think that I'm going to
make it a wall hanging
with a dowel...

Also I started the Primitive Traditions "checkbook keeper" I'm still waiting for my silk threads... so, I've put it aside until I get the other colors. I suppose that I could just go ahead and finish the stitching in the Seaweed... but I really like to finish as I go.... frustrated sigh... It's on 40 ct Sheep Straw... lovely linen...

Also, I'm working on my Fair & Square trade. I hope that Daniela likes it... I will post a picture after she receives it... I will tell you that I'm working 1 over 1 on 32 ct... I was thinking that I'd try a 1/1 on 40ct sometime soon... hmmmm.... now, not so sure! lol! 1over2 on 40 is no problem... but... ;-)

It snowed again this week... but I started some seeds... I just transplanted little sprouts of "Blanket Flower ~ Goblin" The blanket flower is a native plant to our area... I'm hoping that the deer don't find it as appealing as other flowers. Anyone else out there have to deal with deer??? I love them, but I don't think I'll love them eating my plants... I'm sure I'll be posting on this issue again! If anyone has suggestions let me know!

I've started LHN Heart of America...

I have started LHN Heart of America... I love the threads in this kit! I have stitched the first block. I am stitching on 30 ct R&R Broomstick Brown. I like this pattern... it's stitching up quickly... very gratifing... these would be so cute done up singularly, which I'm sure somebody has done.

My Big Toe ~ Grace ~ Building Block Series

Yippppeeeeee! I'm done!
Well, I posted on line last
week and I finished today.
As I posted earlier I stitched
this on R&R 40 ct
Creme Brulee 2/2. I used
the threads suggested:
Gentle Arts: Black Raspberry Jam
and Briar Rose... the only change
I made was to stitch the Rhodes
Diamond in Briar Rose. It comes out to be 6.3" square and fits beautifully in an 8x8 frame.

I've been preusing my patterns
for the next project... or should I say projects...
I have started ABC Fraktur
by With My Needle ~ Brenda Gervais http://www.countrystitchesonline.com/index.php

Also to start: LHN ~ Heart of America http://www.littlehouseneedleworks.com/home.html

And Shepherd's Bush ~

Bill's Stocking

This is the stocking made for my Brother in law, Bill. It is Shepherd's Bush Stocking ~ Robert.

It is stitched on 10 ct with DMC #5 Pearl. It stitched up very nicely and quickly... I was surprised how fast it went.

I have a gal that I send it to. She does a lovely job finishing them. I will post a picture when I get it back. I want to finish the stocking for my sister first and send them at the same time.

Some of my projects...

Mocking Bird by La~d~da... stitched on 28 ct ~ one over. It turned out nicely.

I absolutely love Quaker inspired stitching... This is my first go at it... to date the stitching is done but the items are not actually sewn... I will post when I get them finished.

Quaker Schoolgirl Needle Necessities by With My Needle. Stitched as instructed on 32 ct Maple Sugar from Lakeside Linens... I used the Milady's Teal for the sewing kit.

For the needle kit I used other colors: Bandana, Briar Rose and Wavy Navy.
I also love My Big Toe Designs... The Building Block GRACE is my first project. I am working on the border and then I will start the words... I used the colors suggested: Blackberry Jam and Briar Rose. I am stitching on R&R Creme Brulee 40ct over 2.
